A leading big box retailer approached CTA Digital seeking to modernize their in-store infrastructure by integrating rack-mounted cameras that could serve dual purposes: real-time security monitoring of product theft and AI-driven inventory tracking. The objective was to improve operational efficiency and reduce reliance on manual labor for inventory management. Through multiple design iterations and concept reviews, our team presented a range of mounting options—ultimately landing on a configuration that offered optimal stability, visibility, and ease of mounting integration within their existing in-store rack infrastructure.
A key challenge addressed during development was the potential for accidental impacts from forklifts during routine inventory movement. To solve this, we engineered a retractable wire system that secures the camera and prevents it from falling, while allowing it to safely retract if dislodged. This thoughtful addition enhances both safety and equipment longevity.
